An increase in the size of a tissue or organ due to growth of individual cells without an increase in the number of cells. Chronic hypertrophy of a muscle refers to a relatively permanent increase in its size, in contrast to temporary increases (transient hypertrophy) due, for example, to muscle pumping. In normal physiology the growth in size of muscles (e.g., in an athlete as a result of increased exercise) and also the enlargement of a uterus in pregnancy are caused by hypertrophy of muscle cells. In pathology the thickening of the heart muscle from overstrain, as in hypertension (high blood pressure), is the result of hypertrophy. An organ subjected to extra work (e.g., the one kidney left to function after surgical removal of the other) usually compensates by enlarging; in such cases hyperplasia, an increase in the number of cells, generally accompanies hypertrophy.

virginal breast hypertrophy
Virginal breast hypertrophy (VBH) is not a medical name, but the more known name for juvenile makromastia and juvenile gigantomastia. It causes excessive growth of the breasts during puberty and has a much higher frequency than the rare cases of breast hypertrophy in pregnancy.
VBH normally starts when puberty starts, soon after the girl's first menstrual period. But some doctors suggest that breast development (telarche) occurs before menstrual onset (menarche).[1]
The breast growth sometimes is not constant and comes in "growth spurts". At times, women may have minimal or no breast growth and then experience a growth spurt where the breasts grow very rapidly in a short space of time. These growth spurts cause great physical discomfort, the main symptoms being red, itchy skin and sometimes a general ache in the breasts. But in puberty the breasts can also continuously grow at an even pace for the space of several years. This process can overdevelop a completely normal and healthy breast, sometimes to gigantic extents.
With VBH, enlargement of the nipples usually also occurs, and the nipples can grow to an enormous size. In very severe cases of VBH, hypertrophy of the clitoris can also occur.

Years ago I was shocked to learn that a singer in a group called Wham used a
Cod Piece to enhanse his onstage performance.
It was a eye opening experience for me back then. Knowing that much of what
